Services & pricing
All services are Arts & Humanities-focused and designed around UK doctoral study, from your thesis and viva to presenting your work with confidence.
Please note: I support traditional written theses in the Arts & Humanities. I'm not able to support practice-as-research or practice-based theses (e.g. creative writing, composition, or performance components). These are assessed differently and test skills outside my expertise.
All sessions, reviews, and calls are conducted online, via video call for live sessions, and in writing for reviews and feedback, wherever you're based, as long as you're registered at a UK institution.
Every service on this page is feedback, not editing. This isn't just a preference. It reflects UK sector-wide policy on what third-party support is permitted for assessed work, up to and including a PhD thesis.
All reports and communication are provided in English, and my support is intended for English-language theses at UK Higher Education institutions. Projects that involve translation into or from other languages are welcome, but thesis support covers the English text of your thesis. Commenting on passages in other languages is outside its scope. For example, if your thesis includes a term or quotation given in Spanish, I can discuss how you've used or framed it in English, but I won't assess the Spanish itself.
I can't guarantee a pass or fail on the day. That decision rests with your examiners, not me. What I can do is prepare you thoroughly and give you the tools you need to walk in ready.
Clarity
Buy individually or together, as needed. No commitment beyond what you need right now.
£45 · 30 minutes
Ideal for: anyone who hasn't had the process explained and wants clarity before committing to anything more.
£220 · per chapter
Ideal for: testing the one chapter you're least confident about, without committing to a review of the whole thesis.
£950 · whole thesis
Ideal for: a full structural check across the whole thesis at once, ahead of submission.
£250 minor · £900 major
Ideal for: turning your examiners' corrections list into a clear, checkable plan before you resubmit.
£45 · 30 minutes
Ideal for: anyone who processes spoken explanation better than dense written feedback, or simply prefers face-to-face contact.
Confidence
Practice under pressure, with feedback on how you actually answer, not just what you know.
£220 · single session, or £590 for 3
Ideal for: testing how you perform under real questioning, not just what you know on paper.
£90/hr, or £240 for a 3-session package
Ideal for: an upcoming conference paper, job talk, or presentation where delivery matters as much as content.
For high-stakes conference papers, job talks, or academic presentations, a different skill from defending a thesis, but one that draws on the same rehearsal principle.
Craft
The only package that covers the whole thesis, not a single chapter, bundled with rehearsal, at a package price.
Two full thesis reviews across your final year, timed around the real pressure points from pre-submission drafts to the run-up to your viva, plus mock viva rehearsal, with coverage that grows in the tiers below.
Only need one round? A Full thesis review and a single Mock viva cover the same combination, booked separately.
Core
£1,450
Start 8+ weeks before submission
Ideal for: candidates confident enough to skip an early rehearsal, wanting full written coverage and one rehearsal right before it counts.
Supported
£1,650
Start 10+ weeks before submission
Ideal for: candidates who want two full rehearsals, not one, plus email access between sessions.
Intensive
£1,950
Can start before a full draft exists
Ideal for: candidates starting before a full draft exists, or wanting the only priority turnaround option, plus extra support through corrections.
*Intensive always includes a minor-level corrections review, never withheld. If your corrections are assessed as major, you can pay a further £650 for full major-level support, or keep the minor-level review at no extra cost, since it was never conditional on the upgrade.
A 15% non-refundable deposit books your place, then the remaining balance splits into 2 equal payments tied to your milestones:

Start with what you actually need right now. If you want written feedback on your writing or a specific chapter, look under Clarity. If you want to rehearse being questioned, look under Confidence. If you want both, across your whole final year, bundled together, that's Craft, Full Mentorship. You don't need to commit to a package if you'd rather book things individually as you go; anything under Clarity and Confidence can be mixed and matched.
No. Every service on this page is feedback, not editing. I'll identify exactly where a sentence is unclear or an argument is exposed, but the correction is always yours to make. This reflects UK sector-wide policy on what third-party support is permitted for assessed work.
Yes, if you book the Intensive tier of Full Mentorship. It's built around individual chapters as you finish them, before a full draft exists. Standalone services like the Chapter deep-dive work the same way for a single chapter. A Full thesis review needs a complete draft, since it checks structure and coherence across the whole thesis at once.
No, a 15% deposit books your place, and the remaining balance splits into 2 further instalments, each paid when you book the matching round, as set out above. Each instalment is non-refundable once paid, since your session time is reserved specifically for you.
Word documents (.docx), up to 150MB. Feedback and tracked-change comments are given directly in the file, so a Word document keeps that possible. If your thesis is in another format, get in touch and I'll let you know if it can be converted first.
Yes. Your materials are used only to deliver the service you've booked and are never shared with anyone else without your permission, except where required by law. See the Privacy policy for full detail on what's collected and how long it's kept.
Please give at least 48 hours' notice where possible. Late cancellations or no-shows may not be eligible for rescheduling within your original programme timeline. See Terms & conditions for full detail.
No one can. That decision rests with your examiners, not me. What I can do is prepare you thoroughly: identifying where your thesis is exposed to scrutiny and rehearsing you under real conditions, so you walk in as ready as you can be.
No, not currently. Support is built around UK doctoral assessment, an oral viva with examiners, UK-style corrections categories, and so on, so it's limited to candidates registered at a UK Higher Education institution. The booking form checks your institution's country and won't let a booking from outside the UK proceed. If you think your situation is a genuine exception, please get in touch before trying to book.
Can't cover the cost of a review or mock viva? The Open Door Scholarship funds a thesis review and mock viva, fully, for one first-generation scholar a year.
